Oh Who am I

This poem was written by my daddy when he was aged just 13. He struggled with confidence and acceptance, as many of us do. My father had darker skin than most and he was told he would never be a success. He had a big need to prove himself.

Dad always encouraged me to follow my dreams and to remember that we can all achieve our desires if we listen to our hearts, work hard, and believe. I miss him every day but for sure he is with me every day, with us all. He is part of me and I sense his spirit living on through our children. My father’s love and encouragement is rooted deep within my soul … I hope this poem speaks for you the way it has for me my whole life…
